How to try my new game prototype, plus meet my new favorite 3D printer
Come see me in person at Play NYC August 7-8 and check out my latest game prototype.
Summertime can be slow in the tech news biz, but it doesn’t feel that way this year. I’ve seen some great new products recently, including an excellent beginner-friendly 3D printer, a new Razer gaming laptop, and of course, lots of upcoming handheld gaming systems.
Also, in a great step towards a return to some kind of normal, I’ll be attending an actual in-person gaming event this coming weekend. If you’re in NYC, come check out Play NYC, a great annual showcase of indie games, including my current and future tabletop gaming projects.
See my new tabletop game at Play NYC this weekend!
Yes, an actual in-person gaming event! Play NYC is August 7-8 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan. All the details are here. At the show, you’ll be able to get a copy of Techlandia, my high-tech-meets-horror tabletop game at a special event price.
But more importantly, it’s the first chance to see a very early prototype of my new game, working title Arkham 2029. It’s a card-based adventure/exploration game, and Play NYC attendees can sign up to beta test a digital version of the game.
Here’s an absolute very first sneak peek at the new prototype, so come play it this weekend!
3D printers, gaming laptops and more
My CNET colleagues and I have been hard at work tracking down new and interesting tech gear. Here are a couple of recent highlights:
Anycubic Vyper: This new 3D printer hits nice price at $359 and has a pretty big print volume. But more importantly, it’s the first printer I’ve ever tested that printed perfectly on the very first try, with no tweaking on my part required.

Razer Blade 14: Razer is really my go-to now for gaming laptops that aren’t too big and/or ugly, but can really deliver the goods. The latest 14-inch Blade follows that same strategy, and can fit up to a new mobile Nvidia RTX 3080 GPU.
